The license renewal process can often be delayed by *several* weeks, depending on your status, but you can begin your renewal 60 days before your license expires.
Remember: TDLR regulations state that you may not legally provide cosmetology services in Texas with an expired license.

With your Cosmetology Continuing Education course completed and your contact information updated, you are ready to submit your renewal application.
The Apollo Cosmetology Continuing Education course meets all current TDLR requirements, including the new Human Trafficking Component as well as the required material on Sanitation.
Your course is presented in four sections:
Our course includes the required 1.0 hour of Sanitation training.
Those licensees with licenses expiring after September 1, 2012 will be required to complete four hours of TDLR approved continuing education in the following manner: one hour of sanitation, three hours of cosmetology related topics. Instructor licensees must complete one hour of sanitation, and three hours in methods of teaching or two hours in sanitation and two hours in methods of teaching (this option expired September 1, 2014). Our course does not currently offer any training on methods of teaching and is therefore not suitable for Instructor continuing education credits.
A licensee who is at least 65 years old and has held a cosmetology license for at least 15 years is required to complete one hour of continuing education in sanitation. At this time, we do not offer a stand-alone Sanitation course.
This section covers several key areas that cover the many aspects of cosmetology professionalism, from personal skills and career opportunities.
This part of the course places an emphasize goal setting, effective communication and the importance of maintaining a professional image.
In addition, the section will cover the Salon Business, and exposes you to the many types of salon business and salon ownership models available to you.
In this module, you’ll be introduced to the history of Aromatherapy and their modern uses in the salon and healthcare.
This section also provides an in-depth look at the science of Aromatherapeutic compounds and their uses in cosmetology.
This part of the course also outlines how to incorporate Aromatherapy into your salon services safely and effectively.
The Texas Continuing Education Course meets the TDLR requirements for a total of 4 hours of approved continuing education courses and is sufficient to renew the following license types:
This continuing education coursework includes the required one hour in sanitation and three hours in approved topics listed in Section 83.120 of the TDLR Administrative Rules.
Please note that as your course provider, Apollo Courseware will issue you a course completion certificate immediately upon completion of your course. We will retain a copy of the certificate of completion for your course for two years after the date of completion.
Please note that the reporting of continuing education hours is our responsibility. Once you complete the course, we will electronically file your course completion report with TDLR within 24 hours of your completion time.
Once you complete the course, no further action is required on your part in order to have your course credits reported.
